All About Ted

VISION

Ted Guitars was born from a passion for the guitar and for inventing objects.
The concept came to fruition through the desire to offer very special products: one-of-a-kind aluminum guitars.

Today, the general trend of combining technological innovation and respect for the environment invites us to no longer consume as before. However, when we buy just for pleasure, we easily give up these new principles.

Ted Guitars has therefore taken up the challenge of applying reasoned manufacturing methods to one of the most beautiful gifts a guitarist can give himself: an aluminum guitar.

While other manufacturers claim excellence in manufacturing and sound quality, few can boast of innovation and French production.

But Ted Guitars doesn't rest on the glory of its innovations.

In choosing aluminum as a raw material, Ted has grafted a philosophy that combines the excellence of sound and the excellence of its partners and resources, making Ted Guitars the most French brand of aluminum guitars there is.

Here, no dubious provenance of exotic woods, no microphones from another hemisphere, no assembly line machining or slashed prices on the Internet. When you buy a Ted, you have in your hands a unique object, whose first tuning was done with a state of mind.

A Ted guitar has its reason for being, whether scratched by the fervor of an inflamed guitarist, or simply displayed to make the wall of his living room shine, before the next opportunity to make the aluminum ring.

ORIGINS

His friends call him Ted. The same ones with whom he started playing guitar as a teenager.
After completing his engineering studies, Ted dreamed of a resonator guitar, but couldn't afford a Dobro. He decided to build one.
But instead of copying, he invented. A unique resonator attachment, and above all, the choice of aluminum for a body three times lighter and a much more pleasant patina than those in mirror-polished stainless steel. The challenge he then took up was to make a unique guitar that would increase his playing pleasure tenfold.

At the Blues Passion Festival in Cognac in 2001, this unique copy landed in the hands of Keb' Mo', a blues guitarist who at that time already had two Grammy Awards under his belt. Not only did Ted approach one of his idols, but she made the guitar he had made sound like never before. Keb' Mo' even wanted to buy it!

With this luxury encouragement, Ted gave birth to Bauxite in 2005, his first electric guitar.
A few years later, Morvan Prat (guitarist of 28Saphyr, composer of Liz Cherhal), who heard Ted's guitars, asked him to make one for him. Together they designed Saphyr. This second guitar triggered something in Ted, who concluded that his passion could surely take him further.

Ted Guitars was launched, with only one idea in Ted: to create electric guitars in aluminum, and French!
The pedigree of a Ted guitar is local woods, shaping in Gironde, and specific microphones developed in collaboration with the CREL company in Pau.

Bauxite and Saphyr, two prototypes created solo by Ted are today two unique models that benefit from the expertise of seasoned luthiers, and extensive testing in the hands of professional guitarists. An experience that has benefited the other models in the range, such as Motel or Concorde, as well as the Bauxite and Saphyr bass versions.

In Ted's career there is a passion for the guitar, a desire to innovate and take on technical challenges, and encounters. Almost thirty years that have seen the place of music in his life constantly grow, and of which Ted Guitars is the accomplishment.

These guitars and basses will delight musicians, amateurs or professionals, but always daring, who, thanks to the grace of aluminum, and whether they like it or not, will shine, inevitably.
